Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Anyone got it?
Thoughts, opinions, favourite cars, annoyances? After playing the Jap version a few months back I notice the UK version has two more tracks: High Speed Ring (giggle) and Daytona Road. Both of which are actually pretty good, teh HSR course is one of may favourites from GT1 so was a welcome return. I think the weakest course out of them all has to be teh mountain course Eiger Nordwand (or something like that). It was good in GT2 but now looks a little bland and outdated. I notice that it hasn't changed really from the GT:HD demo when the PS3 was launched. There are a lot of cars though and they all are modelled beautifully (yes even the crappy Suziki Cappucino!). The in car cam is one of the finest things ever. The best bit is when you look behind in something like a Ford GT or Ferrari F430 and all you see is a great hulking engine blocking the rear window. Aweseme. Overall there are plenty of Evnts to keep going but I think the prices of the cars are way too high considering the longevity of the game. You'll have to do many races over and over just to afford them. I guess they want you to get online and earn credits that way. Which brings me to the next point. While the online part is okay it needs a lot of work. In thoery it should be great but the whole ghosting things ruins the experience in my book. They did it to avoid ramming but that's part of any online racer, you just give abuse to the drivers who ram you and move on. Anyway, I would give it 4/5. |
Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
I wonder if Sony will eventually throw the towel in with the online play. It really hasn't taken off for some reason. Is it that bad?

Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Yes sony online is terrible, plus unlike on xbox live there is ways cheat etc online which completely ruins the online gaming.
With this GT5:prologue......Am I right in thinking that this is just an insight in to the game that isnt due to be released for another year. Why would people pay £40 for what is essentialy a demo? then pay another £50 when the full game is released. |

Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Personally, i think the game is great. It certainly provides a wonderful illustration of what the final spec will look like (whenever it gets released). Obviously, there are dislikes and wish lists but hopefully some improvements will make it to the final version i.e. ability to tune the car, more tracks, ability to host a race online etc. But for £20 you get an extremely good racing game, alright not too many tracks i grant you, but nevertheless the graphics (especially in car) are excellent. As to playing online, i've had no problems other than the morons who on purpose drive into you.

Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Online with Sony has never been an issue for me. It's just that GT5 doesn't do it all that well. I hate the ghosting but thats me. Also, if you bump another car you get penalised with a 5 sec reduced power. Does the CPU player get this, oh no! Grrr. Anyway, generally teh CPU player is not that good but they have th advantage of starting 15 places ahead of you. Warhawk online is one of the finest online experiences ever.

Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
I must say I’m really enjoying it. As you say there isn’t much content but its a good insight into what the finished article will be like. Ive looked at a few forums about the online stuff and apparently the content is very restricted and different to what will be in GT5 in 2009. There is also a rather large rumour that the developers are close to agreeing a contract with all of the manufacturers about adding damage to the experience. There is only a few stalling!
The online features on GT5 Prologue are very restricted and you will be able to host races etc.... There are still rumours about mini leagues and other sorts of comp's and tournaments. Should be good. Having come from an XBOX360 I can vouch that the online is much better on the Microsoft. Yes it costs you but that money seems to go into the online development. Its much more user friendly. The PS3 seems very sparse in comparison! You never know they may start improving it over time. |
Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Heard the final version has the Top Gear track. Is it true?

Re: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Will wait for the main version which of course includes bikes too. As for online, I havent found a problem, certainly not with Toca Race Driver 3 which I am still hooked on!
