Hmmm, take a look at the link below, could we use that carb sync tool on our fine first generation SV's ?

This will probably work, but it involves you going back and forward between carbs, each time you will probably over compensate and have to adjust. It's nicer to be able to see both carbs working at the same time with a conventional set of vacuum gauges. Also if it doesn't seal properly when it's put over the throat of the carb you'll get a different reading, and it changes the air resistance that that carb is working with by blocking it off.

I'd put my cash on a normal set.

Me too, if you're gonna do the job don't mess about. DON'T get the cheapass gauges though, Carbtune or Davida are the ones you want.

I have something similar for use on my VW, the carbs of which don't have convenient vacuum take off points to use with the gauges more commonly used on bikes. Whilst that tool *might* work, the one I have won't to seal adequately on a a CV Carb which hasn't just got a plain tube inlet to the venturi.

Tried one, it was naff, took ages and was a right PITA. For the reason jambo mentions that it obstructs the airflow and doesn't seal right either.

Get some carbtunes, they're a good bit of kit.

Can't you tap vacuum take-offs into the VW inlet manifolds? I did this with a CB250RS so I could fit a Snottoiler and a mate fitted some to his ZX7R so he wouldn't have to keep taking the carbs off to fit the balancer pipes underneath.

Yes, if I weren't far too lazy to bother I probably could, :) but I have the gauge so I use it, fortunately the Dub isn't that sensitive to balance.
