Sucks that.......I once had to take out 7k......had to give 48 hours notice......I agree, they are a bank, they ought to ensure they have enough cash on site to cater for all demands.

The 48hour thing, IMO, is a reasonable request to make of a customer (and you'll find it in most banks T&C too).

Face it, if you worked in a bank, would you want enough cash on premesis that you could cope with paying out every customer that came in the door, ?4k (or ?10k even). Granted, not everyone will, but if they need to be ready for any possibility.

Also, how attractive would that make them to bank robbers? That's the main reason most branches don't hold large sums of money. That, and the fact that the banks sometimes don't actually have the money. :)

Hovis, think yourself lucky that you weren't a Northen Rock customer. :)

If you haven't already, call the bank & tell them that on Tuesday (they probably won't take Sunday as a working day) you want 4 grand. :)

I agree with Baph but I can imagine how frustrating it was Hovis. You not wanting to buy another Beta are you LOL

My bank arrange money collection in large amounts from a Post Office if it's urgent!! Same day too !! Looks like they want the Bank Robbers to target the Post Offices instead of them LMAO !!

When I tried to draw out the money to buy my car it actually took me an hour to get it. I had to provide 3 forms of I.D. (fair enough, no grumble there) then i had to be interviewed by the assistant manager and explain why I wanted the money...... then I had to be intereviewed by the manager to again explain why I wanted such a large amount of my own money which was in my own account. Is nuts!!!

Can't be as bad as I wanted a couple of grand, phoned them to give notice and they said to bring in some ID. That was a first. So I take in driving licence and passport. And they will not give me my money. They say my account is in the name Terry Wilkinson. WTF I have had the account for over 25 years. I need to change the name on the account but they need to check against the original account application to make sure it was their mistake and it should have been in the name Tim Wilkinson. Otherwise they cannot change the account name etc.

Boy was I mad. I came home went through all the paperwork I have, Everything said Mr T Wilkinson, never a christian name. I got a call next day and the manager said it had been a mistake on their system. So I got my money but a day late.

I went to the Abbey a few weeks ago and requested a grand from my account and they asked me if I had ordered it?

No, I said so they told me the max was 500.
