Trackday insurance
 

Did a search on this and found Pit and Paddock, so I filled in the on line quote - it's v v expensive - more so for one day at Rockingham (where I'm doing CSS1 in June) than my road insurance for a year, and all the 'Pretty Bits' (as they call them on the P&P site) are excluded.

Anyone know of anyone else who writes this sort of cover?

Answer of course is not to drop it:D

If you go with Ebike insurance and do a CSS course they will do insurance for the day for 60 pounds.

It's not that hot though - the excess is huge and I don't think it covers plastics!

To be honest Ed, I wouldn't worry about insurance for CSS - When Weaselz and I did it, no-one crashed. Someone was saying as well that if you do crash then they send you home! The pace starts off very slowly and builds throughout the day, but even by the end - I wasn't doing a 'trackday pace'. It was even wet when we did it, so the chances of coming off were greater, but this also heightened the experience as you had to think that much more about what you were doing. My avatar is from that day - you can see puddles in the background!

I looked at trackday insurance a while back, the premium was huge, and like Luke says it didn't cover fairings. There were also tons of exclusions, maximum payouts, etc- it worked out that I'd have to try very, very hard to do enough of the right sort of damage to make a claim pay out more than the premium. What's wrong with good old "push it out the back of the van on the way home then claim on your road insurance"? Kids these days, can't even be bothered to commit fraud, what hope for the future?

i used pit and paddock for my first track day. no one fell off. I decided not to bother for my next one and spent most of night avoiding bodies all over the track including dirty baz and northy. Unless you blow your engine I think most track insurances are not really worth it. Plastics and exhaust were not covered, excess was ?200. I think if you are likely to come off it will be at a corner and your bike will probably slide, possibly high side but all cosmetic. just take your time and dont fall off - much cheaper

I would just take it easy - all of the above is good advice - a friend high sided his TLR at Snetterton and it was all plastics and exhaust damage which no one will cover you for so its a waste of money really! If you have not done a trackday before just start slowly and build up into it :)
