this new income tax
 

is it for real? thats daylight robbery! i gonna be paying ?17 per week more tax (70pm)? surely the government cant do that? is it worth working at all?

I have no idea about the change will bring....I'm sure I'll find out on the next pay cheque but I notice that lose about 30ish% of what I earn, normally more as I tend to do overtime. For me by the time I have payed tax, it doesn't work out that much:( But yes given the choice of working or doing nothing, I would work, having been layed off in the past and over month of work last year do nothing gets to me.

Note that it'll be about June before pay packets fully reflect the change as allowances and NI contributions are also changing and everything'll take a couple of months to settle down. So sayeth the grey haired economist on brekky news.

I'll be paying less tax, I think it's quite spiffing.
