I'm confused, Shannon Matthew's mother has been charged with Child Neglect over the disappearance of her daughter; but the McCann's, although admitting that they put their children to bed & then went out for the evening - on more than 1 occasion - have no action taken against them.

What is going on ??

Ok, so the McCanns have admitted that they made a 'mistake' in leaving their children alone in the apartment but have emphasised their 'regret' in doing so. . .

. . . THAT MAKES IT ALL RIGHT DOES IT ???

I don't think when it comes down to it that Shannon Matthews' mother has been charged with neglect because the kid went missing - I suspect when it all comes out it will be treatment of the child before the 'kidnap' situation arose.

Dont forget one case is in the UK the other is in Portugal. Different horses for courses.

Either both need to seriously rethink the reasons why they have children and whether or not they're competent enough to do so. No child should be left alone in a strange country, the McCanns should have known better. The Matthews should also know better and for that they have paid the price.

Children are not to be taken advantage of, they are a gift and should be treated accordingly, your most precious possessions.

I think the Matthews lot look like a bunch of in-bred chav scum. I find it amazing how well the daughter looks considering the pedigree. Besides, I'm pretty sure that kid is much better off as far away from her 'estate'. I watched on the news and just shuddered. Maybe I'm just a snobby git.....:rolleyes:

Ok - so Shannon's family are dysfunctional, socially & financially disadvanteged & whatever other labels we (society) wish to place upon them; the McCanns are intelligent, well-off, professional people - wouldn't we expect a higher sense of social & legal responsibility from them ??
