master cylinders naked vs faired.

I currently have the m/cyl with the remote reservoir that's standard on the faired bike, for comfort reasons I have a naked top yoke and flat bars, the remote reservoir is zip tied to the bar. I think it's a K3 reservoir because it has an alloy bracket, the standard curvy had a plated metal bracket.

My question is; if I swap to the naked style master cylinder with the integrated reservoir, will this adversely affect my braking performance?

I haven't seen any noticeable difference when working on them, and since the calipers are the same, I presume the cylinder leverage ratios and bore are the same. But still, check with someone who knows more than me :-P

Oh yeah my naked isn't short of stopping power, so if there is any difference it's not major.

Nope, no difference as the master cylinders are the same spec, as are the brake calipers.

if you wanna swap I'ld be happy to. No difference in braking power at all but as I've converted the front to a 'S' I wouldnt mind switching master cylinders too.

That's a possibility!

I am doing this on my Z750, have a 2001 naked SV part waiting to go on :)

Already swapped a ZX6-R part in with the remote reservoir and it changed me from having a 14mm bore MC to a 5/8" one, which works fine.

The SVN one is 5/8" too

As I was told, a MC is an MC - they all do the same thing :) (of course you can get better performing ones - ie radials ete)

One thing to be aware of tho is the possible clearance issues with the fairing.

I'll check that when I get home, if I get home tonight

I've just done this conversion and the fairing was a problem, but only if you try to mix a naked right hand switch gear (throttle cables exit from the underside), race clip-ons and an 'S' fairing !

If you are using proper raised 'S' model clip-ons or top mounting bars as on a naked then you'll be just fine.
