sv650 - just for the shorties?

Tire-kicked my way around a few dealers yesterday, and one kept trying to steer me towards a fazer they had for sale - trying to dissuade me from the SV because he thought I was a bit too tall for it - I like fazers (despite the fact they are a little bit "disco") but really fancy an SV for the fun value.

I'm no giant- only 6ft, and on the test rides I've had on the SV I never felt a problem - in fact I've always had a slight preference for smaller bikes as I feel I can throw them around a little easier

I've read that SVs suit the shorter rider - but is that at the expense of the taller rider?

I've only tested curvys so far - are pointys any better/worse for taller blokes?

any thoughts?

I'm 5ft 11. The size of the SV was never a problem, Viney is 6ft 4, Keithd is about the same height, both ride SV's, I've never heard either moan and say that the SV is to small.

If you want the SV go and buy one. Dont listen to sales people in dealers, they'll try and shift stock they've had for ages rather than actually selling you what you want.

Well I'm 6 foot 2 and have no problems on my curvey, I've not ridden a pointy but they feel bigger to sit on.

my ex hubby used to ride my curvy sv occasionally. he was 6'3. it as ok but his legs got cramped on long runs. the pointy svs are taller.

Pretty much as I thought - worth checking though.

To be honest I don't think I've ever ridden a bike that didn't give me the odd ache after long run - with the exception of a BMW 1100GS I borrowed in Alaska last summer

I'm 6'5" and weigh 20 stone, so it was a little small for me (or I was a bit too big for it!) Mainly because I looked a bit silly on it more than anything else. My brother bought it off me and loves it, he's the same height as me but really skinny.
