tank bag query....

Just a quick question, I have an aldi special magnetic tank bag! Since last year I have lost the straps that attach around the neck of the bike and around the tank, I think the magnets should be strong enough to hold without them .... what do you clever peeps think?

A lot of people don't use the straps as they could be dangerous if the bag did come off. What would you rather do, stop and go back for your bag after it falling off or... have it flapping around possibly fouling the front wheel.
TBH I can't really see it being a problem as it is pretty sheltered on the tank and if you do see it coming loose it isn't difficult to lean on it till you can stop and secure it again.

I've got the same tankbag, i always use the strap but to be honest the bag has never moved so i wouldn't worry. if you are then camping shops carry the buckles and webbing strap material must also be available, prob from camping shop

I've got the same tankbag, and although I've never used it, I did fit it on the bike, just to see. I don't think I'll be using the strap as it looks a little tight around the headstock, and as others have said, its pretty low down behind the screen so (shouldn't) blow off...

I always use the strap, but I've found tank bags only move if they're nearly empty, with some weight in they tend to stay put.

Re: tank bag query....

Ive fitted the strap under the tank lugs and not around the headstock, the strap is short so theres no danger of it going anywhere. If your going to cut these types of strap they are usually made of nylon and are best cut using a hot knife and at an angle which makes threading though buckles much easier. Most of the time you dont need the strap but fitting it makes it just that little bit more difficult for anyone to just grab it and walk off with it.

I've got the lidl tankbag, I use the straps around the headstock unless i'm going 2 minutes to the petrol station, or from the petrol station. If they're there, you might as well use them. You'd be kicking yourself if for some reason it did come off and you hadn't strapped it on.
