Hi, newbie here.
Hi all. I actually havent bought my bike yet but have been set on a sv650s for some time. Taking my bike test sometime in the next 4 months, not sure yet if it will be on restricted or not. I am a short ****, and will have to lower the bike though. :D
Other half has just got a sv1000s and I a so glad I am getting a vtwin too.. as I really love the noise. Have ridden on a cbt for a few years but stopped when I had our little girl who is now 2. Into my bike racing, love to watch rossi in motoGP, followed him for many years and refuse to swap just because he is having a few teething problems with the Bridgestones. Drive a scooby wrx for my day to day drive, which okay its not bike quick but it ain't to bad for my mumsey daily drive. I am a qualifed rally marshal and hoping to have my track marshal part stamped this year. I do like to track day my cars, but as yet havent the scooby and I really dont think I dare take a bike on the track.. :D anyway, I apologise now if I say something that offends.. my car club lads that I keep in order say I am very good at that. but hi anyway.. :D |

Re: Hi, newbie here.
Welcome Lou, whilst cars on track are fun, it's nothing compared to a bike, you just have to try it at some point, you'll love it.
Good luck with the test whenever you take it (hopefully before the change in October), the SV is a cracking first big bike, the only major issue is getting on with the engine braking, but apart from that it's a very forgiving bike to ride. get yourself (and other half if he's not babysitting that is ;) ), down to your local meet. might also want to look at the AR08 section, it's generally a great weekend. Cheers Mark. |

Re: Hi, newbie here.
Oh yeah way before 29th September.. It maybe in a few weeks.
I just dont think I will ride a bike like I drive a car just due to the fact I have kids and I feel the risks I take on track are minimum to my health..(does that make sense??? ) I do however enjoy riding my bikes too.. I rode a bike long before I had a car... and felt more vunerable in my cars for a long time. However, I like driving my car to its limits and only real safe place for that is the track. :D Looking forward to getting my full test done as while a 125 can be fun, its not a patch on the big bikes. |
Re: Hi, newbie here.
Hi, I am taking my bike test soon too - in June. l have just bought myself a black sv650s K5 and had it delivered yesterday \\:D/ and it does sound pretty awesome. Like you, I too am vertically challenged  (5'2") and may have to get mine lowered. So for now it will be sitting in the garage until such time I can ride it, can't wait!! :D Got to clean it today though before it goes in the garage lol
