how do you breath
i have asthma and i have been coughing up a lot of flem laterly, and can feel it in the back of my throat, i have been waking up 2-3 time through the night. and the air con in work is crap, after talking to customers for about 10-15 mins my throat is hurting and i start coughing.
so i went to the doctors, he got me to breathe in and out through my nose (with my mouth shut) and examined my chest and back, and he said theres nothing wrong, the problem was i breath in and out through my mouth, so im only getting 50%0f the air i would if i was to breath through my nose. so........ you learn somthing every day my new way of breathing is helping.......although, im still coughing up flem, and, i think he should have given me somthing for it i always thought it was in through the nose out through the mouth. |

Yup, in and out through nose, unless i've got a blocked nose etc, or if i dont want to smell something... like a really bad smell - breathing through yout mouth prevents you smelling it.
But as per Gazza, normal day to day... in and out thru nose. |

Re: how do you breath
All through the nose. Although on long-haul flights I get similar problems as you, Hovis (but without the phlegm thing... eew.). The air is so harsh and dry I run into all sorts of problems trying to breathe comfortably, no matter which orifice I breathe through...
Pointless fact: During winter in cold regions (In my case, Canada) you're supposed to breathe through your nose to warm up the air going into your lungs to help keep you warm. |
