has anyone fitted a taller than standard battery to a curvy?

Can it be done, is it dangerous for any reason?

My battery is fooked, but i do have another battery the right width and depth, but it is taller by a fair bit, so probably won't fit without taking out the fuse tray completely.

Is there any problem with doing this?

I did. I was stuck and I used the battery from my other halfs pointy and put it in my curvey, we found the pointy battery is taller and it was just tall enough so I couldnt do up the battery terminals as the positive and negative leads werent long enough to cope with the extra height of the battery.

I expect you might run into the same problem but I'm not 100% sure.

If it'll fit then it should be alright, you can get rid of the fuse tray since it doesn't really do anything.

Make sure the seat isnt bearing on it though, that could cause a problem.

I fitted a gel battery (dont know if its better or what) to my curvey... big mistake first of smelling like the most skank thing you can think of then it stopped working and everything packed up so i took it out and it had swollen and all out of shape and everything. Back to stock OEM battery and its been fine. Was lucky it didnt do other damage because it could have got expensive.

Mine is the slightly taller Yuasa YTZ12S, it's about 10mm taller IIRC. As YC says, just remove the fusebox thing, it's just there to annoy you when you need to get to the battery anyway.

I've fitted a Varta YTX12-BS to my curvy, it was a good price and has a lot more cranking power than a standard battery. It's taller yes, but the fuse tray comes straight out.
