cutting out at low speeds
Hello i have a pointy 07 with 10,000 miles now on clock. Being having trouble of late with sudden cut out at low speeds. I have just replaced the air filter and a bike mechanic adjusted the tick over, before i put the filter in. The tick over is not staying constant even on a mild morning start and when it is warmed up. Seems to like the slow down point at junctions, to cut out! Being through the winter so lots of rain and general road salt. I had the same trouble at 7000 miles and the bike shop got it right second time around. IT is at times staying around where the mechanic set the tick over, but if left it sharpy drops off. Any advice would be welcome. I know v twins are temperamental, but this is silly. If it was a cx 500 i would know now to fix it ;). A point in the right direction before i get silly and start getting tools out would be great :).

Re: cutting out at low speeds
could be
1. your tps ( throttle position sensor) is not calibrated correctly 2. your tps is faulty ( this happened to me) 3. your rec/ regulator is not charging at low rpm, could be faulty check with voltmeter at tickover should be about 13 volts. 4. check your stva's are lubricated and working ok. youll need to refer to manual to carry out this checks. hope this helps |
