Sat Nav - which one?
 

Looking to get a sat nav for the bike.

Don't want to pay silly TomTom Rider prices so just going to stick it in a tank bag (or similar).

Its between these 2;

Going more towards the Garmin as it has a slighty better aclaimed battery life and also their handheld stuff seems to be some of the best.

Anyone used any of the above or any reasons for whidh one to go for?

Also is it worth £20 more for Europe maps?

I've got a Tom Tom One for my car..... have never thought about placing it in the tank bag when we go out..... :rolleyes:

but once when i could not be bothered to mount it on my windscreen i layed it down and it struggled to work out where i was, I think it struggled to pick up the GPS so something to bare in mind when you get one. :D

Hmmmm, i'm sure jamessunhill uses his this way.

I'm sure i'll find a way to bar mount it or onto the dash.

But i was in a cage... which i think the roof more than likely caused the problem!?

Just fitted my omTom one to the ram-mount on the bike, wired to the battery. Not been out with it yet, but you can use a program called Tyre to do huge routes on the computer and transfer them to TomTom as an itinerary.

Do you get maps of Oz with it? ;-)

Just looking at Ram mounts, which one do you have and where'd you get it?


Don't think it has Oz maps on but hopefully will be adding them with a bit of luck :D

I have tomtom and garmin. I put them both in the car together and watch them fight. garmin picks some stupid routes, tomtom seems more knowledgeable.

For the bike, I have tomtom in my phone - audio directions are so clear there is no need to see a screen, but the earpiece arrangement is a bit of a faff.

I can also mount the garmin on the bike, thanks to a mount made by Chewy

Wouldn't bother unless its a bike specific GPS unless you never plan to be out when it rains, ever ;)

Or look on the RAM web site and not get ripped off with import/custom taxes ;)
