Hi all
I have an 06 SV650S and this summer is the time to do a few things with it

I have a power commander, but never fitted it as everything is still stock and didn't really see the point? will it make much difference?

now, who recommends what with exhausts? i can probably get a yoshi tri-oval for ?300 new, will this along with the PC make a world of difference? or are there any other cans that will make more difference for less money?

I also understand that fitting them requires a wee bit of surgery. Will this make it difficult to replace the original can if i need to come MOT time? I thnink the yoshi is too loud, but doesnt have "not for road use" on it. that said, it doesn't have anything on it that says specifically it IS for road use. I don't really know the rules. The dealer said he could put a DBkiller in it, but if this removes performance increases, what's the point. it needs riveting in apparently.

so, any ideas or advice anyone? what's everybody done with theirs and what results have you got?

You get very slight difference in flow with a slip-on can, power commander is wasted on the SV unless you're going really mad with tuning.

DBkiller will make it road-legal ish, but as for needing riveting in he's talking balls, you can put a little nut and bolt there so you can take it out n put it in when you want.

so is there really no point me using my my PC? got it for a great price, bit gutted! oh well, back to ebay you go.........

do you know much about quill cans? they seem to have removables and are all road legal and cheaper than yoshi, but are they any good??

really all i want to do this summer is get a bit of power and performance increase (ideally with as few mods as possible), not looking to go bling!

Wait for someone else to come along before you sell it, I'm not really a pointy expert.

You're not going to get much extra power, none or very little from just a slipon

When it comes to mods on the SV it seems to very much depend on what you are trying to achieve. Fitting a PC to an otherwise standard bike is almost a waste of time. The only real gain will be to smoothen out the dips in the power curve put in for emission/noise test purposes, but these aren't that big on an SV anyhow. If however you go to a full exhaust system/K&N filter then you might see a bit more benefit from a PC. I'm told it's because the FI system on the SV is pretty basis so there is only so much you can do with it. If the reason you are doing the mods is because you want a bike that will pull your arms off....forget it, just buy a bigger bike like the SV 1000!

If on the other hand you love SV650's like the rest of us and you want to make the bike quicker point to point then spend your money on the suspension/brakes. £ for £ you will see far more gain by doing that, and make the bike so much nicer to ride. There are loads of threads on here about sorting the suspension, from minor tweaks to complete replacement, just decide how much you want to spend.....

With a full system the PC will be worth while, but with a slipon there really isn't any need!
