Need your help in spending money
OK guys, I have 2 useless computers and urgently need a laptop. I don't need a super dooper one but I don't want a poo one either :D
Since I have no idea what the latest teccy is i am calling on you guys for advise. Firstly I am debating a Mac over a PC but not sure, mainly because I'd like to get back into Graphic Design. I can get info on Apples from a mate but am useless with PC's .... so what's a good deal in the shop's. I am totally skint - which don't help - so I have a budget of £500 which is why I am steering away from the Apple of which I could get when I am a little more flush. (this is taken precidence over my car getting new tyres and brakes LOL) HELLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP  |

Re: Need your help in spending money
Its kinda a tricky one to answer, depending on what you want from it - battery life, big screen or small and portable, how powerful, how much storage etc etc.
I'm no help, but most laptops will have their merits. I was looking at them last week, ended up buying a little eee pc linux thing - fantastic, but deffo not what you will be looking for |
Re: Need your help in spending money
Hmmmm - a thread about combobulators...
... I suggest investing wisely in a reaaaaaaally big hammer - then hit your PC with it. Waddaya mean that's not helping? ;) |
Re: Need your help in spending money
PC world always have offers on http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/Laptops_homepage/?int=home_nav
Then there's always Dell. http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/pr...hs1&l=en&s=dhs I have an Acer I bought over 2yrs ago with a 15.4" screen. Its very good and I've had no problems with it. I went to Comet told them I wanted a laptop, a case and a router and asked them to give me a deal. If you push they will give you something foc. IMHO, you can get everything you want without spending £500. |
Re: Need your help in spending money
The reason I need a new PC is cause this one was not working and I hit it LOL
Screen 15.4 or 17, not fussed, want it mainly for internet and some Windows based stuff. Will get an Apple to do my graphic design stuff on but it will need to run either Photoshop, Freehand or Illustrator. Playing of music and goodish graphics card (for clean film watching ;-).) I was looking at Dell, put yaself a PC together and their basic is about £380 plus £60 delivery, but I don't know what is good for money. Think it was 120gb HD, 2GB memory, 15.4" screen, wireless blah blah .. but it confused me as it went into more detail of extras so I gave up. Oh its got to look sexy too LOl (girlie fing). Maybe PC World nice helpful men will be paid a visit on Sat. |

If you are close to one of the large retail parks there might be a Comet, PC World and Currys in one place. Play them off against each other to get the best deal. |
Re: Need your help in spending money
Sony do a pink Vaio.
Dell delivery £60 - there is a way to avoid paying that, something to do with logging in to business website and only having return to base warrentee - seen it on the newsgroups somewhere |

My brother has just got the £379 one of these and is very impressed with it. Good spec for the money better than mine that cost me twice as much but then again mine is 2 years old now. They might even have them in a store near you, I know they had them in our local store as thats where he got it from. |
