work trying to change my shifts
anyone know where i stand with the following?
about 5 months ago a guy in work droped 2 of his shifts to work somewhere else, so i took them and i signed a contract, now he wants to come back and take back his old shifts, so we had a meeting with the boss and he came up with a new rota basicly giving the guy his shifts back which were 7-12am thurs & fri (which i like ) and giving me monday 4-11pm and friday 12pm-11pm i dont like working the night shift, the boss said he tried to please everyone, but to me it looks like the other guy gets his shifts back, and i get the shifts nobody wants the boss then said, well the other guy has kids...... i said i was not happy.......... and then i was told to go and think about it, i said theres not much point in thinking about it, as i dont like it :confused: |
Re: work trying to change my shifts
not macdonalds is it? (joke) (not that its a bad thing)
Ermmm... well if u signed a contract does it state your shift patterns? If it only states your working hours then snifter im afraid. Do u get any enhancements for out of hours working so to call, will u be loosing money? Tell your boss your not happy and why **** chops dissappeard u were loyal stayed filled the hours and now are being scrutanised. All else fails call him a knob kick him in the balls and leave, |
Re: work trying to change my shifts
Don't take this as gospel, but IIRC, you're contracted to a minimum number of hours. So long as you do this, and your existing contract states that your shift may change (with due notice), then you're up a smelly river without a boat let alone a paddle!!
Sorry mate, but yes, it looks like you're being shafted, and there's not much you can do about it. Not your problem if the other guy has a family, but if your boss chooses to give him the shifts that are most convienent to him, that's his choice. There may be a reason for that decision, like the other guy may ONLY be available for those shifts. |

Re: work trying to change my shifts
from experience working as a manager at a place that people worked on shifts;
if in your contract it states the exact shifts you are supposed to work then they cannot change it unless they give u a new contract if in your contract it just says that you have to work X amount of hours including antisocial hours then they can give you a couple of weeks notice and you HAVE to work those hours hope it helps |
