Guess who's just realised that paint stripper on plastic panels isn't a good idea?

I've previously been playing with a plastic panel I bought from a breakers for my banger, practising painting. I thought I'd get it nice to spray properly tonight and covered it with paint stripper. The paint came off and left the bare plastic but all of the paint didn't cleanly come off. So I put a thick layer of stripper on a section of it. I started wiping and scraping off the paint and realised that the plastic has melted and was coming off with it! Whoops. So now I have a panel that resembles a cornflake cake. On top of that it's a Saturday night and I'm indoors playing with paint stripper!

Thanks for listening. I feel much better now.

I did that years ago on a YB125, even if you clean it and then spray it, the paint will probably blister.

Earlier this evening I was outside putting the final layers of black gloss paint on my cheap ebay-purchased-for-painting-practise rear fairing. And damn good it looks too!

Party animals, the pair of us.

He he. Too right. I know how to have a good time.

It's not the re-painting I'm worried abot, more the chunks of plastic missing!

You live and learn. Last time (and first time) I painted a part I ended up with overspray all over the kitchen floor, despite newspaper everywhere. I blame it on the floor becoming static.
:)

Right then. Here's a two for one. The panel on the oversprayed kitchen floor. What a mess.
