http://www.vidilife.com/index.cfm?f=...3C-3&action=12 I am now extremly excited about the new album WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo!!!! Matt |
Re: fans of metallica...
sounds like that nu metal that's down with the kids nowadays.
Think I'll stick to the first 4 albums. |
Re: fans of metallica...
If it's anything like St Anger I will not be buying it!!
I am (or was) a HUUUGGEE metallica fan. I even liked the Load and Reload albums. St Anger was just awful though. Still can't bring myself to listen to it from start to finish. |
Re: fans of metallica...
Should have downloaded it before you paid for it then :rolleyes::p

Re: fans of metallica...
best not be like St Anger
Seen them twice so far got tickets for Reading whare they are playing! |
Re: fans of metallica...
Didn't get St Anger- though I will now get Load, after hearing many of the songs on live releases (S&M and Cunning Stunts DVDs- love them both).
I prefer the older, thrashier stuff. Is why I listen to Dream Theater now- still got the furious riffage! |
Re: fans of metallica...
As far as can be gained fomr that video, metallica have seemed to have recovered from the awefullness of the album that was St Anger. Kirk gets his solo's back, and lars sounds like he has a snare which dosnt sound like a tin can being kicked. James' vocals sound a bit more polished, and the overall feel of the music seems to be that which is a bit more...metallica.
this website might offer more info soon.. www.missionmetallica.com I don't deny, btw, that the older stuff is better. I, for one, think ...And Justice For All is the best work metallica ever did (shame the sound production is carp - why did they treat newstead so harshly by turning his bass track right down?!). Truth is, these guys are in their 40's now, so they won't have the same energy and angst of youth Matt |

I did hear solos in that video however and a better snare sound. So I think it might be better than St Anger, but I still reserve judgment. |
Re: fans of metallica...
They can still knock out the classics live though- puppets, creeping death, one etc.
So there's no reason why they can't write a few more nosebleed thrash riffs!! Must do better- see me! As for Justice...there's little bass in anything- drums and everything, let alone Newsted's stuff. I think they just tried to get the sound so clean and tight that the riffs would all be very clear- sadly at the detriment to the overall heaviness of the sound. Some of their best writing on there, though. I'd be curious to find a little more around the 'sparing' info given on his leaving the band though. In a juicy gossip kind of way! |
Re: fans of metallica...
If you get the bonus pack of St Anger it came with a DVD of them playing the album live in the studio, and it sounds about a million times better than the final version. Same with Some Kind of Monster, the film mix is miles better than the album mix. Still not a great album but at least it's listenable- better than Kill Em All I reckon.
Off to Reading too, Metallica might have mastered the making of rotten albums but they can't do wrong live IMO. |
