Anyone off surfing tonight?

Just about to leave work, drive 4 miles down the road and jump into the north sea swell for a couple of hours.

Anyone else here about to do a bit of surfing? If so have a good session.

Apologies for the typo in the title, "off surfing" would be better.

Did a bit on the polluted South Coast off Peacehaven.
Well - not so much surfing as going through the motions...

Nope not for me, but it looks fun, I should probably learn to swim properly beforehand though 8-[. Plenty of people do it here in Aber, students especially. We have a Surf club too lol.

Well wind was a bit onshore so the waves weren't standing up but got a few rides on what was about a 3-4ft swell, and it was pretty invigorating, came out with loads of energy!

Chasey, are you in Harrogate? Give me a shout over the summer if you fancy having a go, you can hire boards and wetsuits at Saltburn where I surf (a dash up the A19), although it's one of those sports that takes a little perseverence to crack :)

yeh love surfing. shame i've not been for a couple of years now. used to take the family down to newquay, great down there. fistral, watergate, porth oh my heads there now.
just remembered catching a wave and surged forward towards a group of ladies messing about in the surf, felt like i were doing 50mph, diched the board and then looked for the bubbles. crap myself at first oh but couldn't stop laughing afterwards. if it hadn't been for the wife being with me who knows, 4 ladies arghhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, just in Harrogate. What sorta price are we talking for to hire boards etc? Guess it would be a bad idea to come up there on ze bike as I would probabily be knackered. Could always get a mate to drive up ;).
