SV1000 Clutch - Shoud I be worried
Just been reading this on another forum.
Reading it and my SV 1000 is noisy when the clutch lever is out and the noise disappears when the clutch lever is pulled and also hear shudder type vibration when accelerating through from 2.5 to 4,000 ish RPM Should I be taking it to the dealers i got it from as i'm sure its done this from the start and i've had it serviced at least once since i've had it at my local Dealer? |
Re: SV1000 Clutch - Shoud I be worried
SV 1000 clutches are often noisey as you describe. Mine does exactly the same, but I'd expect a real clattering from the state of that one in the piccies. I also read that thread when I just got my thou and thought the same. The thou is also lumpy low down and the judder / vibration you feel though the bike is probably normal.

Re: SV1000 Clutch - Shoud I be worried
have you ever read about the sv1000 KNOCK? i swear i can hear my crank knocking when the engine is hot but i just ride and ignore, up to now this knock hasn't caused any engine failures but its just a noise due to a batch of wrong tolerance crank bearings. i don't know if i have this or not but if you jumped at every noise you herd especially on a 1000 v twin you'd never ride it lol.

Ok, panic over, i've heard a clip of a dodgy one and its really bad!
Mines ok, but a little niggle to it which is, when i slighty pull the lever (couple of mm) there is a slight bubble in the reservoir, does it need bleeding as it seem that there could be a small bit of air in the system? |
Re: SV1000 Clutch - Shoud I be worried
cant help there matey but when i pull my clutch in i get a sort of popping noise from the clutch rubber.

Darren
The 'KNOCK' is limited to K3's I think. It was a warranty job and it should show on up the dealers computer system if yours has been done. If it's not gone by now, I doubt it will. Clutch slave cylinder seals were also a problem on K3's and were supposed to be sorted by K5, but mine had a new one before I got it. The symptoms Andy (previous owner) suffered was a badly dragging clutch. Other big problem to watch out for is the 'Green Connector' burning out. This is located under the airbox and causes total elec failure. Ratty |
