Does anyone have a rough idea of how hot things can get please :) Thanks for the replies.

One of the bike magazines this month gives a run down of EXACTLY what temperature different parts of the bikes reach.

Even the cooler parts are 80c and hot enough to rip your skin off. Some parts like the first inch of the downpipe can be 800c

Other than next to exhaust ports/pipes, most engine cases will be more or less coolant/oil temp, which you can take as typically 100C and 110C intermittent for coolant, or oil up to maybe 130C at full thrutch.

Depends how critical you need to be. If for selecting paint etc then 120C would be a reasonable "continuous" value to use. A lot of plastics tend to be a bit more critical because their service limit is often around this range, 10degC under and you're OK, 10degC over and you're not.

I repainted all my casings, but the water pump gets very, very hot, and melted the paint I used. Other casings are fine, but the water pump need HT paint or maybe powder coated or something other than normal engine paint...

Just use PJ1 engine paint if in doubt. When it's been cooked a bit it's tough stuff.
