Making a "Big Bang" Gixxer?
In theory its pretty possible, new Crank and cams + revised firing of sparkers etc and it should be doable.
So has anyone heard of this recently? Also why dont they make them big bang engines instead of the standard screamer for the road... I mean the M1 Yam GP bike sounds about 5,000,000 times better than an R6 screaming its head off for another gear... IMO. :p Discuss. :) |
Re: Making a "Big Bang" Gixxer!?
PB mag did one a few months ago - a gsxr750 I think. Maybe there will be some info on the PB mag forum?

to make a big bang road bike reliable would require more sturdy engine internals, which would require chunkier components of the same materials, increasing weight, or introduction of new materials, increasing component and RnD costs I don't think the big four want to rock the boat and risk a flop tbh |
Re: Making a "Big Bang" Gixxer!?
Why not be different then
Go for a "Double-Bang" 2 Cylinders at a time :) Have no idea if this will a) work b) rip a hole in the space/time continuum and end existence as we know it c) just blow up your engine. So might not be a good idea, but sounds like it might work :P |

Granted the engines would need a re work but from what I understand you gain Torque so also gain power and you gain grip.
I did a search and found that the R1 had some Big bang models in Superbikes and some made it onto the road but thats all I found... Ill have another look. Ill try to find the PB thing too cheers. |

absolutely no way you could make the same engine go 4000 miles between services |
