Should I try a race shift pattern?
Thinking of getting some new rearsets and thought I may try getting them in race shift pattern. Anyone else tried this on a road bike, I thought it may be a bit different?

is that 1 up 5 down?
Can't you just put the linkage on upside down to do that? |

Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
I'd only put it on if you ride in a way that would warrant it  or maybe if you plan on racing it (even track days may not be a good enough reason? for me at least). If it's just for the hell of it, you could just as well do all sorts of odd things ;) change the rear brake to be on the left, etc :p

Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
Is it to make the bike really likely to injure any thief?

Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
Do you have any other bikes, or do you ride any others. Personally I've never been able to make the change back and forth so I've always run a road setup even on my race bikes, and never had a problem with it. I think the days when power bands were so narrow that we needed to be able to change up fully cranked over have gone.

Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
If you buy the rear sets which are race shift only then remember you are spending a lot of money on something you haven't even tried yet, what if you can't get used to race shift?
Personally on the road there is no benefit to be had! |
Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
Only if the mod is reversable

Re: Should I try a race shift pattern?
Pointless IMO. Just inviting hassle.
