Engine cutting off problem
I have a problem when my bike idles. it is a 2004 SV650. At times it will cut off while idling. other times it will cut off when i hold the clutch to stop and other times(more often than others) it will cut off when i suddenly give it gas from idle speed. i think that it is too low of an idle speed but i don't know how to get to the screw that adjusts the idle speed. this is my first bike and i don't know much about the mechanics yet.
thanks, mike |

What's it ticking over at?

Re: Engine cutting off problem
Sounds like it needs turning up a little then, not sure where the adjuster is on a pointy.

Salreet. I'd advise you to get a haynes manual and have a read, it's interesting even if you don't like scary photos of the inside of a gearbox.

Re: Engine cutting off problem
it only has 1900 miles do you think that i really NEED a tune up or would it just be a wise idea with the problem?

Re: Engine cutting off problem
Probably everything settles in a bit after manufacture. TPS setting up properly and a throttle balancing won't hurt it.
