Pics from my new D60 in Manual Mode
Thought i'd share a few pics i took with my new Nikion D60, when i took it out of auto mode for the first time. Please bear in mind i've never used anything other than a point and press before and as of 8 days ago i had no idea what terms like depth of field or aperture or iso meant.
Anyway armed with a tiny amount of knowledge gained from a dslr website, i put the camera in manual mode and took some pics of a flower with various aperture settings to see if i could vary the depth of field, using the light meter to manually set the shutter speed for the right exposure. Both pics show the same flower against a brick wall in my back garden. The first was taken with a narrow aperture to get a deep depth of field and you can clearly see the brick wall. For the second i opened up the aperture to get a shallow depth of field, and the wall has blurred nicely into the background and your eye is really drawn to the flower. I also have a couple of shots of waterfall where i played with the shutter speed to get different effects on the moving water. Depending on how much i get mocked for the flower pics i may post them on here too. :) http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/a...V/DSC_0178.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/a...V/DSC_0179.jpg |
