Back lights and brake light problem
Evening all.
Just when i thought I was getting the hang of this do it yourself maintenance, another gremlin turns up. The rear seat lock was playing up so I thought whilst it was sunny I'd have a go at fixing it. Well that was my first mistake!! After some investigating I found out the cable had come away from the key end of the lock. Popped off the fairing and after a few blue words placed the nipple back in to its holder. Wey Hey... back seat now working a dream. Replaced the fairing and just as I was doing up the last bolt I thought I'd check out the lights and indicators as I knew a back light bulb was out and the left indicator is dodgy. Oh dear... well words to that effect. I now have no back lights or brake lights. Checked the wires and connections, tugged, pulled and wobbled. Checked the bulbs and only one bulb needs replacing. Asking for help as I'm puzzled and the good weather has finally arrived. |
Re: Back lights and brake light problem
Remove the seat, and the rear fairing. Do your lights work? If so, check for a trapped (and possibly broken now) wire.
If not, then it's time to start using a multimeter. |
Re: Back lights and brake light problem
Gonna pop out tomorrow and get a couple of bulbs but I def think its a broken wire. Its not gonna be an enjoyable job is it!?! Oh well, will let you know how it goes. Cheers for replying:)

Re: Back lights and brake light problem
Evening people.
After reading wot was said, I got a mate around to check me wire for any faults. Just before he got to mine I thought it would be a good idea to take off the fairing and replace me light bulbs with new ones purchased earlier. Guess wot happened.......... Yep the lights only worked first time. Don't quite know why the old bulbs didn't work but a new set solved the problem. Now back to the ride outs, just in time for the expected rain. Thanks again for the advice. |
