The good and the bad
The good - I now have two bikes sitting in my garage and one of them is very red, very fast and very HONDA (yes that's right Ogden HONDA) :smt041
Now for the bad - I have changed my insurance over to the CBR so that I could pick the bike up. They promised that they would email the insurance certificate over to me but it hasnt come through. Tried calling them and the agent told me that as my underwriter was HSBC there was no way for them to email the certificate. In addition it is unlikely that the certificate will arrive until Tuesday. HSBC apparently dont opperate during the weekend so that leaves me in a predicament. I now have two bikes... 1 - with no insurance (the SV) 2 - with no road tax (the CBR) I'm going to chase the insurance company again tomorrow and prey that they can do something but am not convinced i'll get anywhere! Re: The good and the bad
Amateur - should have added it....:-(
Get em to FAX a cover note - then down the post office? Might be taxable online.... maybe....? |
Re: The good and the bad
Failing that - adopt the same approach as when you picked it up?

Re: The good and the bad
Tax online only works if you are the registered keeper - I am not - and if you have been insured for 14 days (as it takes that long to appear on the system) on the vehicle - which I haven't.
It is HSBC who need to issue the cover note...as they are not there this weekend I may be outta luck. Just out of curiosity - what is the penalty for riding with no tax, and does it invalidate your insurance? Alternatively - I might have to reinsure the SV :-( |

Re: The good and the bad
You really need to insure the SV again as thats the only way you are gonna do this weekend legally..
Or.. just take the CBR and forget about the tax.. Don't hit anyone! |
Re: The good and the bad
No, it won't invalidate your insurance. When you get the certificate of insurance, go to the post office and buy the tax. It will most likely be backdated to the start of the month.
However, if you get stopped and have no valid tax, you are liable to get a fine of ?60 - but it's not endorsable, so don't worry about points. Hope this helps. Or makes sense, for that matter. It is late. |
Re: The good and the bad
HAPPY DAYS EVERYONE!!!!
My insurance company (Express Insurance) are legends!!!!!! Asked them last night at around 6.30 to send through a cover note etc just in case it would come in time for today and guess what should pop through my door this morning - my insurance cover letter. I am now officially Insured, taxed and ready to roll. Been out already for a long drive...WOW I love this bike so much. See you all on Sunday night. Jon PS - Would recommend express insurance to anyone. They were £300 cheaper than all the other quotes that I had, they insured me for another year as though I had 1 year no claims discount even though I had 10 more days until the full year was up and they sorted me out with the paperwork. |
Re: The good and the bad

Re: The good and the bad
