Umm, I dunno, not even sure if there is one? Anyway, K5 owner here too, with an aftermarket 'xorst and obviously there were no probs whatsoever come MOT time, it's a road legal exhaust, stamped as such. I did put the baffles back in just so as not to take the wee-wee but I suspect knowing my shop they'd have happily passed it without baffles too.
EDIT: Sorry, just adding more questions! Is there even an emissions test for bikes at the MOT? There have to be a few old skool 2 strokes still kicking around, can't see an old RG250 ever passing emissions? Suppose there's a bit of room in the manifold at the 2-1 junction where it might be possible to squeeze a small cat? Hmm, you've got me thinking now :D |
Re: Where's the CAT in a k5 pointy's exhaust system?
just called beowulf (the manufacturer of my can) and asked them. Lady on the phone said that yes the cat was in the can on the sv, and that by removing the standard can, the cat has gone.
She said that apparently the decision about the cat etc. is down to the discression of the mot testing station but i should be fine. "We sell reconnection sleeves if neccessary" so sticking the standard can back on is an option... Think as long as the baffle is in the mot station should be happy enough :) now I know why the sv's are so much louder after the stock can has gone - started it up between sawing the original off and fitting the new one = LOUD - i was scared so had to turn it off after about 10 seconds. |
