Calling Naked Owners...

Does a flyscreen (or whatever else you want to call them) make a noticeable difference and can you recommend one? "Endured" another 20 miles (not much i know) of dual carriageway again today and it annoyed me, so need to make it a little more bearable. PS - I love me naked thou so don't anyone recommend something faired, just a need little respite for dual carriageways/motorways

When I had an ER5 I had a small screen fitted.
I did a bit of experimenting and did the same journey with and without it. I found that it was worth about 10mph comfort speed. IE, 80mph with it fitted felt the same as 70mph without it fitted.

i had one on my naked sv650 and regularly used it for my 250 mile round trip comute. wouldn't have even attempted that many miles without a fly screen.

I bought New Leaf's screen off him. It makes a very noticable difference on reducing windblast on your chest, but I found it made a lot more turbulence around my head, making things a lot noisier. You could duck under it for total lack of any wind, but that was head on tank type level. In the end I now ride without it, as I found the increased wind noise more annoying, but I might retry it again, its hard to tell.

I have done 2000 mile trips without any screen at all. IMO anything you put up front creates wind buffeting whether its on the helmet (more noise), or on the chest (just anoying). Thats why i got rid of the mirrors and got bar end mirrors. Now i just have clean air hitting me. Only gets real bad above 100 MPH. Tho I have been riding this way for almost four years now, maybe I am just used to it. My neck is definately stronger now!

I can echo JoshuaSV in the message above. I've done just over 5000 miles in the last 12 months on my naked, many of those being the 100-mile round trip to work and back. I find that speeds up to ~75mph are manageable, things get a bit whippy beyond that. It might be the case though that I've just got used to it ...

Same as everyone else really. Keeps a lot of blast off the chest, but buffets your head a little more
