Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
I hear he has been testing and has impressed the boys in Red... I really hope he comes back. IMO MotoGP aint been as good as it was when he was pushing Rossi all the time on the Honda.
So if there is a chance then COMMON SETE! |
Re: Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
If Marco is anywhere positioned in Assen as he was at Donington then you can virtually guarantee that he will be yanked off the GP8 by the shepherds crook. Sadly for him it is highly likely, as Assen is another twisty, turny track where the Ducati has to be wrestled all the way.
Marco is not happy on anything but a perfectly set up bike like he had the benfit of when riding Honda's. I am so gutted that it has not worked out for him as I would have expected a head to head between him and Casey for the title before the season started. just goes to show what little I know!;) |
Re: Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
After watching him over the weekend, he is sooo slow into the corners, he doesnt carry any speed in and he doesnt get on the throttle till he's through the corner with the bike upright.
IMHO he looks frightened of it. He's clearly not enjoying riding it. But if he looses his ride where does he go for next year ? I agree Peter I think he's going to loose his ride and they'll put Sete on it. |

I think he might just fancy getting a taste of the M1. All things considered it is for sure the most complete bike of the lot at the moment and I cannot see Yamaha going back wards next year. Just maybe he will get Colin's seat as,although Tech 3 would like to keep the Texan,( who is proving to be a revelation this year)......his wages are just a bit too tastey for them. They need another sponsor in order to keep him. I think Marco could bring his own sponsors and so secure the ride. I mean he is still very young and talented plus a former champion. Put him on a bike that he feels at ease on and he will once again be right in amongst it. |
Re: Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
I'd like to see Hayden on the Ducati, I think he'd appreciate it.

Yes he has been the champ BUT lets face it Yamaha gave it him by not developing the M1 for Rossi and the fact that he was on the best bike out there at the time. |

Peter - Yep what you say makes sense, but I'd be gutted to see Colin loose his seat. I think I'd rather see him back in WSB that on the Kawasaki though which there is talk of him going to. If I were him I'd take a pay cut to stay on at Yamaha, he's made his money he doesnt need to earn mega bucks. He's not going to win on anything other than a full factory bike either I dont think, unless he goes back to one of the Satelite Honda teams and I cant see him doing that either... |
Re: Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
I agree with Razor that Nicky on the Ducati could be smart move by both parties. I really do not think that Sete's involvement is for the long term but he could do a great support job for Casey in fending off some of the other title challengers. I think Sete would be happy to work that way in exchange for a place back in the spotlight.
However a mid season change for Nicky would be without precedent and extremely unlikely to take place. Sete's short lived marriage to Esther Caņadas the Spanish supermodel is now over and he can once again really focus. I wonder if his courting her had more of an impact on his supposed mental decline in races than how we most agreed it was the "Rossi Effect?" I just dunno? |
Re: Sete Gibernau to Ducati?
Agree with Fizz, I'd like to see the Tornado on the Yamaha again next year, sounds like him and JT have a good relationship and respect for each other. But money does talk, look at Hopper, having done so well at Suzuki then moving to Kawasaki. Can't blame them though, most people would probably move, if more (or similar) money was offered.
