Stretching leather?
OK I ruined 2 pairs of gloves drying them out on a wood burning stove, and they've shrunk.
Well not quite as bad as that, one pair that were not expensive were too big anyway so fit better now,:D just a bit ruffled. The other pair just has one panel of one glove that's shrunk so I can't stretch my thumb away from my hand now, and after a while my hand hurts. So can I stretch just that one panel? possibly involving wetting it again? Cheers [-o< |
Re: Stretching leather?
When our gloves have got soaked and dried all stiff and horrible we've treated then with Renapur. Not totally sure it would work for your shrunken gloves, but might be worth a try. I'll bring some to the AR if you can wait til then?

Dried leather on a wood burning stove:x... oooooohhh you naughty boy you.:smt018
Hmmm - I'd suggest wetting the problem section and then putting the glove on and work it to the maximum position whislt it dries. Then give the whole thing a good going over with some feed like Renapur, Nikwax or something similar. Again, do this whilst wearing the glove and flexing it for a while afterwards. You may find it needs a couple of treatments with the feed to get it's suppleness back but take your time and keep working it. As long as the leather hasn't crack when it first dried then you should be able to get it back to some semblance of normality. And remember... ... DON'T DO IT AGAIN. |
Re: Stretching leather?
th best way to get the suppleness back in leather is to use a small amount of hand cream

Re: Stretching leather?
go to the nearest shop where they sell equestrian kit and buy yourself a bottle of nourishing saddle grease. works like a charm. Works great for cleaning leather suits as well.

Re: Stretching leather?
Don`t force the leather though as you may rip the stitching through the leather like a postage stamp seperating from it`s fellow stamps
My stuff I use is called Mars oil , makes leather very supple http://www.brighteyesandbobtails.co....ditioning.html |
