Pick up bike, ride 2500 miles

Hello all, just joined the site . . .

I've recently bought meself a 55 reg SV650S in blue. I got the bike primarily for commuting to work, but immediately took it on a tour of Austria and Switzerland a couple of weeks ago due to . .ahem, a little "incident" with my other bike, a GSX1400. The GSX is back from the repair shop in a couple of weeks.

The SV did great as a tourer, I had a few worries about the comfort at first, but soon settled into it. I can't believe how good that engine is, and it's so light it was easy to throw round those Alpine hairpins (but you probably know all this already). The only prob I had was in torrential rain on the Autoroute, when the front cylinder was cutting out, it was quite extreme conditions though . . . so I'm after a fender extender now.

Cheers :D

Welcome to the org. I`ve just got back from a 3,300 mile Euro trip and my bike didn`t let me down once. Have to admit I didn`t find her the most comfortable of bikes for doing 300 miles a day and I suffered severe back and neck pain and the Alpine hairpins caused me severe pain in my left arm due to the clutch span and my fingertips only just reaching the clutch. We also hit torrential rain but my fender extender did it`s job. All in all tho it was a fantastic experience and worth every bit of discomfort.

Thanks all, you're a welcoming bunch :D

You saw through my cunning disguise. I'm originally from Uddersfield (with the silent H) in West Yorks (the posh bit), but am mostly in Loughborough these days where the missus is.

We're a bit like Scots and Geordies, we like to travel ;)

Welcome fella, I'm from Uddersfield too - but I headed north, to be with my misus!
