I have been plastering the lounge.

God that is a job I hate. I am crap at it. The plaster is going off before I can get it on. Smooth as a bear's ****. Just needs a skim I said to the wife. Now it needs ripping off and a professional.

Just the bay at the front, has taken me a weekend. there are two 32' walls still yet to do.

can you skim over artex ceilings? will pay you in beer and pork scratchings...

Plastering's one of those things I'll never do again :D Except patching, that's easy, but whole walls? No no no.

Its all in the mix...
Once you have the mix mastered just slap it up - do NOT try to smooth out at this stage.
Have a cup of tea...... flick some water and smooth.

Sounds easy but you need some serious practice. It does get easier everytime trust me.

I rather plaster than replace/install insulation any day. I've been working on that this weekend. Cleaning out what was in the attic (some old dusty, itchy stuff) and laying down new pink fibreglass. The worst thing? 92* out today. That attic was like an oven.

Need to do a cieling here and I hate plastering cielings even more than I hate plastering walls.
