paddock stand recommedations

hey there

got an email from get geared today offering paddick stand 25 notes for square section swing arms up to 340mm. will this be suitable or are there any paddock stands that people have and recommend? cost and place of purchase would be helpful. think it is time to invest in one as getting annoying lubing the chain etc. or is there a centre stand option about?

thanks in advance.

Go for one that uses bobbins. And if purchasing a front too, get one that lifts at the headstock. I bought a cheap set and regretted it, the ones that lift at the bottom of the forks are pants imo and do not inspire confidence at all. The rear ones that "cup" the swing arm are poor too.

I have an Abba stand; £100, but worth every penny.

Google it

+1 for bobbins rather than swingarm supports. Got one for my b'day recently and asked for the bobbin adapters too (most come with just swingarm clamps but offer bobbin adapters as extra) works lovely and really stable.

Cant remember the make but its red with curvy tubing and little white wheels.

cheers guys. on closer inspection the cheap one just cups the swing arm and looks like it would be a pain to use. on the google hunt now from your recommendations.

thanks

'Bike It' stands from Demon Tweeks are good and cheap, can't remember if they do one for bobbins though.

Get an NWS instead, I've owned both and I'd buy the NWS again rather than the Abba. Similar kind of money and also clearly dearer than a simple paddock stand, but much, much better.

Sound advice :) The Abba works well, but you need to buy a new fitting kit everytime you change bike and at 15 pounds a time it's a bit of a pain!

+ 1, I have an NWS stand and it works a treat. You also don't have to buy a swingarm removal kit either as the NWS stand can mount virtually anywhere including on allen head bolts!
