Front wheel - scraping noise
Just recently everything seems to be going wrong!
At the moment if I push the bike along (which I do every morning out of the garage) I can hear a very slight scraping noise coming from the front wheel. To be honest, scraping makes it sound worse than it is since it's more a light rubbing, but with a slightly metallic edge to it. Actually that description sounds even worse! It's been there since I bought the bike nearly a year ago and until recently I paid it no attention since noting else was wrong. But while I'm doing the fork seals (again) I thought I'd seek some knowledgeable advice. Initially I thought it might be the brakes binding a little on the disc (it's that sort of noise), but I'd have thought it would make the discs red-hot after a ride, which they aren't. Possibly the wheel bearings? Has anyone had a similar problem in the past, if it is a problem? Any tips for identifying just what it could be before I head to the Suzuki garage and end up with everything from the forks down being replaced at great expense! Ta... |
Re: Front wheel - scraping noise
will just be the pads very lightly rubbing on the discs, all bikes do it.

Re: Front wheel - scraping noise
Well thank L. Ron Hubbard for that!
So this is fine? You know, I was hoping it was all normal but I just thought I'd ask given the fact that loads of components seem to be wearing out at the moment! Cheers... |
Re: Front wheel - scraping noise
99% sure, without hearing cant be 100%
But all bikes have a slight metalic rubbing sound when being pushed along. |
Re: Front wheel - scraping noise
yea, theres a rubbing, my bike does it, the front and rear brake. Worse when the bike has been left out in the rain due to a nice coating of corrosion :smt043
but soon goes away. So dont worry, your bike is fine :D |

Re: Front wheel - scraping noise
You've all made me feel much happier...Now if I can just sort out that fork seal leak and the nasty squeak I get when I pull away a little too fast I'll be ecstatic!
