red light jumping cyclist....

Got his just deserts this morning, just wish i had a helmet cam to capture the action cos it was a beauty.

Picture the scene, me and a bunch of other bikes and scooters are sitting at the fornt of the traffic at the lights. Its a crossroads and the lights for the traffic going across us change but one cyclist thinks he'll be quick enough... forgetting that bikes at lights love their traffic light GP starts.

the biggest ugliest Harley was what he saw as we shot across on our green light and he hit his front broake so hard that not only did he go over the top of his handlebras but his bicycle flew right over our heads!!!!

Oh how i wish more of them got that sort of thing for jumping red lights. I mean he came to very minor harm, a few cuts on his hands and knees and i'd hate it if he'd got badly hurt but it made all the others on bikes behind him stop and think

I actually saw a policeman on the street on Saturday, I was shocked, but not so shocked as to be speechless.

I see a number of cyclists running the red-lights at the junction he was standing at, and although none run the reds while I was there, I asked if there were plans to do something about this issue.

Answer was no, its not a high priority.

He then went on to go on about how its usually cyclists complaining about aggressive motorists, and that they do it because its safer

WTF !!!

I was basically reporting an on-going crime and he wasn't interested.

What was it Ice-T used to say again about the police?

Oh wait that wasn't about cops. Which are you refering to SK?

And cops are never interested unless they can arrest someone and get their DNA on the database

A bit out of order and personal methinks.

Besides, jumping a red light is 3 points on your licence, try and get someone to produce for riding a bike............

They don't have to 'cos they don't need one..................

therefore no offence.

Theres an argument that if you stop at the red light, you are stopped and therefore at risk from cars etc either not stopping and running into the back of you or Alternatively, some cyclists are slow away from traffic lights and again some cyclists feel like the car drivers are going to mow them over when accelerating away from traffic lights.

Its not a view I subscribe to and like you guys even though I'm a cyclist, anybody that jumps a red light gets all they deserve.

My conversation touched on that - the cop mentioned that they dont have licenses so all it would be is a £30 fine.

However I am led to believe that if the cyclist is also a motorist/biker, they CAN get 3 points on their license - and surely all that is needed then is a quick check with the DVLA to see if Mr Smith of 123 Anystreet has a licence.......

Oh and Spidey, it was from Ice-T's time in Body Count, last 2 words in the 3 word quote are "the police" - go work the 1st word out :)
