Authorised Motorcycle Removals Van

Operating in Westminster......

saw the bloody thing at lunch time today, has a tail lift on it (slightly stretched long wheelbase transit sort of size).

Seriously gonna call em in as bike thieves if i ever see them actually touching a bike!

I saw them a while ago in Kensington so I stopped them from what they were doing and demanded to see some ID, which they duly produced. They were only taking bikes which don't have tax, and they were checking by computer rather than relying on a displayed tax disc.

I'd suggest to anyone who sees them, check their credentials because not only does it possibly slow down a bike thief/make it possible to identify them, it'll also slow down and therefore make it more expensive for the buggers to legitimately remove bikes.

Anyone seen a car version of this? me neither...

They do have them, they drive around scanning car number plates for tax and parking offences. Not sure if they operate them in Westminster, but they are about. I guess for motorbike you have to do a visual check, since the number plates are towards the kerb, rather than driving passed cars and scanning as you go.

Now i can see it possible to lift any car about (even a roller or a bently fits on a towaway truck) but how the hell are they supposed to move a bike secured with a chain(s) and/or U Locks/disk locks etc into the back of a van without damaging it?

Or do they simply not care........

I've seen the car ones many times. Never seen the bike one before though.

And yes a very good idea to question them.

I'd be interested to see them trying to remove a bike where the rider has taken advantage of Westminster's own pilot of security posts to chain your bike to

They're supposed to be the dogs danglies but you have to be built like your avatar to be able to lift one.
