tyre help
I have had to change the front tyre on my sv at its worn unevenly.I dont want to change the rear as its pretty new. I have had loads of problems trying to get a tyre to match the back as they are discontinued avon azaro's.
Finally got one off ebay but my concern now is that i will have a rear worn later on with a front thats got loads of life left and i wont be able to get a rear replacement. I have been offered a 170/60/17 to match the front so i can change it when needed.Would this be ok? As then this will stop the same senario in the future. Or do i need to fight on and find a same size tyre? Anybody help as im off to collect the tyre tomorrow afternoon. :( |
Re: tyre help
I wouldn't fit a 170/60 to the standard rim just so that the tyres matched myself. The handling effects of having a tyre pinched on the rim are probably more noticeable than matching tyre profiles & compounds by sticking with the same model. I believe the Azaro's have been replaced with the Avon Storm ST. I'd probably just fit one of them on whichever end wore out or you'll never get out of this cycle:D

Re: tyre help
If you use the bike for commuting or bimbling about on at the weekend, then any old tyres of odd sizes mixed and matched shouldn't be a problem (I've had all sorts of combinations on mine). However if you are be a weekend warrior out to get the fastest lap round the local road GP circuit, then a (correct size) matched pair is your best be! 8)

Re: tyre help
Just get an Avon Storm when it's time to change the rear......which is the replacement for the Azarro. You'll be fine.
And then switch totally to Storms when it's time to change the front again. Edit: basically what Bluey said apart from using the 170/60/17. More so if you are buying new ....makes no sense Ben |
Re: tyre help

Re: tyre help
Just don't have an accident, you'll be pulled for the non type approved tyre!
