What do I need to take...

When riding in france. I've read so much stuff now I am confused...

I'm guessing

1. V5
2. Insurance Documents
3. European Health Card thingy

Now my GSXR has a projector beam headlight and doesnt use a conventional bulb so do I need to worry about spare bulbs for it ?? or the rest of the bike ?

I've read some other stuff about a warning trianlge and first aid kit ( like I have room for a warning triangle anyway )

If I get a rear number plate with the EU logo with GB in the middle of it is that sufficent or is it not really needed.

I'm also going to take

Spare Alarm keyfob and battery
Bottle of Scotoil
Tools
Puncture repair kit
I've got one of those fixerpeg jobbies as well

Any other useful tips or advice I would be grateful for...

Cheers

Drive on the right side of the road. Else you won't get very far.

European breakdown cover. Try your insurance company first if you already have UK cover on your policy. (I don't so its £90 with the AA for 30days cover:( ) I would give your ins.company a quick call anyway, to let them know you will be across the water. Good practice.

I have had the misfortune of breaking down before (with cover) so I don't skimp on it.

Got "big bike" (insured over 125cc) travel insurance for £11 each : www.direct-travel.co.uk

....have used the Post Office before as well. They also cover motobike trips.

Would not be seen dead with a GB sticker/plate!:)

Has your gixxer got the cool, fat n' hollow front wheel spindle that suzuki very kindly, don't supply one of their chocolate tools under the back seat to feckin undo? (take it to your dealer!!)

I have that spindle and did not fancy not being able to get the front wheel off, so got a bit of hex-bar cut to stuff under the seat. I think somebody punts them on ebay.

Duct/Gaffa tape and a few cable ties.

Wee can wd40.

Wee can lube.

Wee whiskies.;)

Have a good one.

If your bike has hazard lights, then you do not need a warning triangle in France. (as you say, not that you would carry a triangle, but at least it's one less thing to worry about :D)

Enjoy!

It is in the policy wording, under the exclusions section.

"f) you travelling on a motorcycle over 125cc, unless the rider holds a valid licence which lets them ride a
motorcycle of more than 125cc;"

basically that says if you have a license for a big bike, you are covered.

Motorcycling is also covered in the 'Hazardous sports' link on the 'Eligibility' page of the application. So yes, I think you covered for 3 quid, but I'm going for the Gold level of cover, just for the sake of an extra fiver you get plenty of extra cover for that just in case moment. No point in skimping, when you need cover you really need it.

But that is travel insurance, It's not breakdown cover nor motor insurance, so not a great deal of use.
