How many times can you get hurled abuse in one ride?
 

Went out for a ride on my pushbike today ... nice day for it and all that ... :riding:

But in one ride (~20 miles) I got hurled abuse on 4 separate occasions ...

Twice by car drivers, once by a cyclist and once by a pedestrian ... :(

People need to chill!! :rolleyes:

I was merrily listing to my iPod, so to be fair, I was in another world ... they could have been shouting out anything ... even how s3xy I was ... but lets face it, I doubt that was the case :oops: :lol:

I am not saying I wasn't doing anything slightly unorthodox, but I was enjoying my ride and not doing anyone any harm ... :-$

But you shouldn't do that on pavements and going the wrong way up one way streets :)

#1 I was cycling in the cycle lane ... admittedly the 'wrong side' of the road i.e. going against the traffic in the cycle lane on the RHS of the road ... I can't really see what difference that makes to the oncoming traffic as they shouldn't be in the cycle lane anyway ... and it actually means I can keep a better eye on the traffic rather than just getting clouted up the rear!!

#2 The oncoming pedestrians (row of about 5 yoofs) saw me coming towards them on the path (it was one of those shared footpaths and cycle thingys) as tehy were in a mob, they were taking up the whole path, but they refused to move out of the way to let me nicely through - so I stood up on the peddles and cycled up to 'ramming speed' 8) ... I narrowly avoided 'collecting' one of the little sh1ts as I torpedoed my way through ...

#3 I was trying to cross a busy road, so I crossed the oncoming lane in a gap ... then had to sit/cycle in the middle bit for a bit to get up to filtering in speed of the other lane ... the oncoming car called me a t*** ...

#4 Whilst cycling the wrong way up a cycle lane I was faced with an oncoming bike ... as the road was clear at that point, I pulled off the cycle lane onto the road to let the bike going the right way continue on his path ... evidently that still qualifies me as a w***er in Portsmoof!! :D

As I said, not like I was being a saint, but no real need for anyone to get sh1tty with me!! :rolleyes:

Your a bike man, you will be pleased to know the wheels&street tyres I liberated from my £10 dump-bike are little minxes now they are on my old chassis I can go faster with 50% less effort now!!! 8)

you should've abused the buggers right back!!

i get right annoyed when people have ago at me for riding on a very wide pavement (quite slowly), of a busy road (that in all probablility would see me knocked off). i stear well clear of them and they still have a go every now and then. i'm not gonna walk with the bike, when i could be riding it!!

I saw the thread title and thought you had invented a new game in order to inject a little excitement back into motorcycling. This game + helmet cameras + interwebs = smash hit. I'm a little disappointed.
