Lubrication points
Hiya people
The Suzuki manual says to lubricate the brake/clutch levers, footrests, clutch cable etc. after washing the bike. Just to ask what people use for the lube? The Zook manual says motor oil for the levers and cables(?!) and I was going to use 3-in-1 oil for the footrests and kickstand. Also, would lubing the cables mean having to take them apart and using the pressure lubricators/plastic bag at one end or is just a squirt where the cable's been wet be ok? Cheers everyone :thumright: |
Re: Lubrication points
i hardly ever lube all that, maybe after a hard winters riding.... maybe..... otherwise you wont need to!

Re: Lubrication points
I lubed them with grease, which was a bad idea as it now full of a grit / dust. I'd say a drop of oil on the pivots is more than enough.

Re: Lubrication points
I use a PTFE spray designed to be a dry chain lube, works nicely and isn't sticky.

Re: Lubrication points
I use 3 in 1 in a funnel made out of a plastic bag, left overnight.

Re: Lubrication points
I use cable-lube on my throttle and clutch cables. It was similar to this: http://www.protectall.com/cable_life.htm, but bought locally for a LOT cheaper.
The rest of the items you list, foot rests, levers, etc, I keep thoroughly lubed with road grime. It works pretty well. ;) |
