I have a problem.
..a sports rack/eBay problem and could really do with some assistance, please, from any kind .org member.
Here's the story. Some of you may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted a thread on my Givi top box and soprts rack. It ended up up on eBay and I did very well from the deal. Well enough to buy some leathers, in fact. Sorted, or so I thought. The buyer (who's not a member here, BTW) mailed me to say I'd forgotten to send him a couple of brackets. Oops! :smt053 He was correct. So I removed the l-shaped brackets and bolts from the sub-frame in the tail and sent them to him by recorded post. Now he's saying that he took the bike to a garage and they're telling him he's been ripped-off and that there's no way the rack came off a curvey SVS. Jesus, I included the photo of the actual bike WITH rack and box attached in the eBay listing just to avoid buyers asking me which SV version it was for. The long and short of it is that I bought a curvey with box and rack, dismantled everything, posted it down to eBay buyer and he's not happy. Personally, I reckon he thought it would be easy to fit and he's discovered it's a wee bit beyond his capabilities and he's now spat the dummy. Trouble is, he's raised an ebay action and my account is now frozen. I mailed him before and he's now threatening to come up and have me prove to him that it fits my SV! My question to the forum is - does anyone have any experience of fitting a Kappa sports rack to a curvey? Do you need to drill the subframe when initially fitting the rack at the bit where the l-shaped lugs are bolted to it (inside the tail)? Does anyone have some instructions for fitting one of these? I could fit it again to mine in no time, but I'm trying to find out if there's anything he maybe needs to do to make it fit to his. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can help me out. cheers Paul |
Re: I have a problem..
Hmmm - don't know about the rack itself I'm afraid - but challenge the Ebay action as it sounds like you included all the information/photos of proof etc and didn't mis-represent the item.
Did he pay via Paypal and raise the dispute through there? If so and you log in to your account there should be a thing called Paypal's 'Resolution Centre' and you can send supporting documentation, like photos etc to them to support your side of the matter. Oh yeah - if you know the make of rack, have a shufti around the internet to see if they've got a site with fitting instruction on or something. just an idea. |
Re: I have a problem.
I can't help with the actual fitting as I have never fitted a kappa rack to an SV. I would advise that you email Kappa for the fitting instructions, they may email you the PDF version.

Re: I have a problem.
I fargin hate Ebay muppets.
Anyhoo, got to dash now but may have instructions somewhere. If not I'll take a pic of a Givi rack on a Curvy for you and you can email it to the idiot. What/how exactly does it not fit according to him? I bloody hate it when folks say "it's doesn't fit...no way is it not going to fit" with saying when problems were encounted. PS the problem may actually be the SV subframe/ the Givi or Kappa insert. Sorry got to shhot now but will explain better when I gte back. Ben |

OOh, this was lucky...... decided to havea quick look before leaving and found the instructions for my GIVi rack.
I shall photo copy it and stick it in the post today. You should get it tomorrow. Ben |
