cost of ally? and whats this called?.....
Hi...Im going to be making my own undertray/tailtidy thing to get rid of the snowplow on the back (someone from this site did kindly offer to do it for me but this has fizzled out..what happened!!... so gonna bite the bullet and try myself...sure im gonna ccok it up....)
anyways..rang a local dealer who wanted £40 for a 2ft by 2ft piece of 2 mm alluminium....is that about right?? (not bought it yet trying to find a mate who works somewhere that has access to some so i can "borrow" it...) secondly....I understand from reading here that u can get a lot of spray up from the back tyre after doing this...so what are those things called that go over the wheel but right at the back...hard to explain...not a hugger...got one of them...but like a 3 inch wide bit of plastik that sits further back...if anyone can decypher what im on about please let me know!!! Thanks in advancs Dappa D:smt068 |

2ft by 2ft you could make 4 out of that, sounds expencive tho anyway.

IIRC a few of the original hamicad tail tidies fractured with use and were made of alloy, the later ones were powder coated steel and didn't suffer this problem. I have no idea what a "suitable" thickness of aluminium alloy is, but make sure it's sturdy enough :)

I'd recomend using steel as the ally will be difficult to manipulate without causing fractures. Especially if your bending it back and forth to get it right!

That's nowt to do with spray anyway. It's there to break up lumps of crud stuck to the back wheel (hence the name 'crud catcher') when you venture off road.
And you are right... it's taken a serious beating with the ugly stick. |
