Rictus is right, it's not a classic it's just old, and that one is an early example, (the kicker gives it's age away, later ones didn't have that), of the less than wonderful 'Super Dream'.

Super?

Dream?

Hmmmmmmm...

A Triumph Speed Twin is a classic, A BSA Gold Star is a classic, a CB250N was horrid when it was new and time has done nothing to improve the situation. However as they're famously reliable, it's possibly good hack material, but nothing more

Don't be fooled, old does not equal classic.

I'd have one in a second for a runabout or winter bike.

Might be good for someone on a 33 bhp restriction.
Second thoughts no not even good for that.Avoid it.

Brilliantly awful bikes. I had the 'pleasure' of CB250N ownership!!

At least it could be kicked straight after an accident!

Try that with your fancy GSXCBZXFZYZR9000RRRRR!

For a bike to be a classic, I'm fairly sure it had to be aspirational at the time. A B-reg ford fiesta, for instance, is not a classic....

You wanted one because someone you looked up to had one, this is why you're horribly mistaken about it.

Arh the age old question " what's a classic"

Because it really isn't defined by anybody it's often abused, but generally it's seen in two lights, either age or rare & desirable.

On the first the VMCC defines the earlier machines as this
"The definition of a veteran bike depends on when it was made, a pre-1915 bike is a veteran bike and post-1915 is a vintage one." and is seen as the benchmark.

Age wise the top end of Vintage is seen as around the late 40's(some say pre-war, but as design didn't change much in that period, it's much the same thing), beyond that the term classic comes into play, however early jap stuff (from the late 60's) also falls into this band by some.

rare & desirable, well something like the rotory Nortons or perhaps some of the race bikes from the 70's-80's might be included.

I don't think anywhere there covers the CB250N superdream do you ? I think possibly the early K series CB750 of 68 may well qualify, mainly for the impact the bike had in this country.

Cheers Mark.

Many people tell me that the 250 Superdream is a classic... I have one lying around somewhere. Others tell me otherwise... I've ridden it, and it's crap - so it must be a classic of sorts ;)
