Tank covers

Hi

There is a leather bagster/baglux tank cover on ebay that I want to win (I will!) Does anyone know if it's possible to dye the leather black, it is currently blue...? I don't need it look professionally done but something that won't un off in the rain would be good! :)

Cheers

maybe layers of black shoe polish would work. obviously working it into the leather and buffing it down after every coat. that should darken it at first, then over a few weeks of constant polish and buffing, should be as black as the night!!

(hopefully!!);)

they aren't normally leather, but a "leatherette" so dye won't work.

I've painted a couple though ( use very thin coats of latex paint, and decals will stick if you perpare the surface well before hand).

Cheers Mark.

Is it now? Imitates the leathery look and feel quite well.

I didn't win the one I wanted after I compeltely forgot about it but won another blue one with attached baglux bag instead. Still in blue though!

Cheers all for posting. :D

Yeah it does, very well. Explains why it doesn't take much looking after too, don't worry I think about 8/10 think it is leather.

"Maintenance
Products are made in a coated PVC cloth; only use soapy water with a soft brush and a sponge. Do not use any detergents nor abrasive products. Keep away from any source of heat. Regularly spray the seams with waterproofing products.
For Cristal tank cover, very fine abrasive polish can be used to eliminate possible scatches."

Do a post in the wanted section and see if anyone with a blue curvy wants to do a swap for their black one. Might get lucky.
