Not Starting after running out of petrol.
 
Disaster, coming in to work this morning and thought I'd suprisingly ran out of petrol, went got some more and bike won't start. ARHHH

Do I need to wait awhile for the petrol to run through?

all the crap that was floating in the tank is now in your fuel filter, might be blocking it, not sure how long the bike would take to re-wet the fuel system though, would have thought with the fuel pump it would be fairly quick

+1. The older the vehicle, the more likely there is to be crap in the tank and consequently these sort of problems. I ran my decade old 106 dry once and it refused to start, fuelling was ropey for a good while afterwards. That said, after running my K4 dry for the first time at the tail end of last year I didn't encounter any problems.

got it started now obviously was panicking as going to the eccosse AR tomorrow and drained the battery again, jumped it and all ok. I had it services the other week and they put in fuel cleaner so would have been runnig slightly rough anyway.

Thanks for the help. BTW being a twin is it usual to drain the battery as quickly 3 - 5 times tying to start her?

twin = bigger cylinders = more compression = battery eater

try kick starting a 660cc single;)
