Michelin's - see they are rubbish!

You only have to watch MotoGP to see Michelin really are rubbish ... why do people still rant and rave about them as road tyres? 2CT this PR2 and all that ...

I realise that the hoops on a motoGP bike are significantly different to the hoops you and I can buy in the shops ...

But equally, if they can't produce a good/predictable tyre at the pinnacle level of their development with all the R&D effort there ... what is the hope of the rubbish you and I buy off the shelf being any good?!?! ;)

Short answer ... they aren't ;)

Seeing them seriously drop the ball in such a dramatic way at the top level, do you really think your Michelins are that great?

p.s. Can Rossi ever make the wrong decision?!!? .. that man was born lucky!!

definately, he must have know something we didnt when he made that switch from michelin to bridgestone! I had the 2CT's on the road for the SV and I loved them, but since switching to Diablo Supercorsa's I dont think I would stray too far away from Pirelli if I ever did go back on the road.

Maybe the R & D is going into the road rubber? I cant see how the motogp tyres really relate to road at all! PR2's are good I like mine.

Cheers.

It was certainly a ballsy move betting against Michelin upping their game over the off season!! .. but he called it just right!! 8) Is that wisdom or pure luck?!!? ;)

Like with motorcycle design, surely with tyres, what we see on the road is fallout from what we see on the track?

Upto a point... Though I think most road sports bikes owe more to Super Bikes than Motogp.

Ok, maybe at the pointy end of a motoGP grid, I can see there being a difference. But seriously, in the real world - I doubt 90% of all motorcyclists will ever be running that closely to the edge of the performance on road tyres. Even on trackdays, people don't push that hard lap after and those that do, usually run race tyres and warmers (nb. having no chicken strips, getting you knee down, doesn't mean you are at the limit of the tyres grip)

So while they might be the tyre of choice at the moment in motoGP, it makes feck all difference in the real world. Except the company image and the not-so-bright people thinking that their Michellin tyres on their road bike must be as carp as they are in MotoGP
