Chewies mirror spacers/extenders

OK - so I got me some of Chewies mirror spacers/extenders, fully expecting to be able to see clearly behind me as opposed to looking at my elbows all the time.

However, although they have slightly improved the rear view, they haven't made a great deal of difference.

Obviously it's how you set the mirrors up that makes the difference, but no matter whether I pull the stalks in and twist the lenses out or vice versa, I still can't seem to get a really good view without elbows/arms in the way.

No I haven't eaten all the pies and no I don't ride with my arms sticking out at 90 degree angles from the bike.....any suggestions/tips (or am I expecting too much, they're only 'wing' mirrors after all)?

I had the same problem.

You have to set them up properly after install so you maximise the view, but they are only an improvement.

Have you tried moving your elbow in when you look in the mirror??? ;)

Try this item (bottom entry) Adds ANOTHER 1" to the 1st 1" that chewy's bits do. These go between the stem and chewy's extensions.

Thinking of getting these myself (as I'd rather see the traffic behind me and don't mind having the bike look like it's suddenly sprouted antlers!)

Only thing some suppliers have mentioned in other forums / FAQ's is that adding another 1" of extension there MAY be a chance of some vibration.

But I guess the proof will be inthe pudding!

For another £50, I'd rather keep looking at my elbows.....besides, I should really be concentrating on what's in front of me, not behind ;)

P.S. Dangerous Dave -

What's behind doesn't matter.

If you already have the Chewy mirror extenders and a Pointy SV you could always try these. I know they are Banditmania but at least they have Ebay rules to stick to and shouldn't be such arrogant pri*ks this way.
