backfire!

Just like to say thanks on the replies to my previous post guys cheers!

On a different note. I have a Viper can on my SV and the more noise the better to me but when I take out the baffle it backfires when usually it wouldn't and I'v heard when they are on overrun they can kick out flames

Does anyone know if this has any affect on your engine etc or is abit of backfire/flames ok???

Thanks again,
Your residential SVer Rob

No problems with the engine but can ruin exhausts.

Normally backfiring means that there is an air leak in the exhaust somewhere.

When you say ruin exhausts you mean by blowing the can right off etc???

Just another little question. What size bobbins do I get for the swing arm on 99 sv650? (m10, m8)

backfires are cooooool. mine needs a carb balance when it does that. Then it shuts up. Its been doing that tonight over to Squires, going off throttle.
Theres a certain 1000cc bike in my shed that backfires on purpose, but thats a different story

Oh yes they are that!

My VFR backfires like mad, it's ace. I really should fix it but it's the rear exhaust port gaskets and it's a full strip the back end of the bike[1] to replace them.

My SV did it until I put a clamp over the small slotted gap inbetween link pipe and silencer.
